Toxic To Dogs And Why ~ Apples

Although the flesh of the apple is pretty safe for dogs to eat, there are parts of the apple than can be harmful.

The seeds of the apple contain small amounts of a poison called cyanide. Cyanide is a very fast acting and lethal toxin. A few apple seeds probably wouldn’t harm your dog, but a large amount could be dangerous.

The core of the apple, if swallowed whole could become a choking hazard for your dog. It also could cause an intestinal blockage.

Always remove the seeds and core of an apple before giving it to your dog. It’s best if you cut the apple up into small pieces.
